God’s Infallible Revelation to Man

The Unbreakable Authority of the Holy Scriptures

The Christian faith stands firmly upon a source of truth that transcends human wisdom, historical context, or changing cultural sentiment: the Holy Bible. This collection of sixty-six books is not merely an assembly of inspiring literature; it is the infallible, inerrant, and fully authoritative Word of God, serving as our ultimate standard for doctrine and life.

A Book Breathed Out by God

The unique claim of Scripture is that its ultimate Author is not man, but God Himself. The men who penned the various books were not simply offering their best human insights; they were acting under a direct, divine influence. This concept is captured perfectly by the Apostle Paul:

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” — 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV)

The Greek word translated as “inspiration of God” (or “given by inspiration of God”) literally means “God-breathed” (theopneustos). This signifies that the Bible is the very breath and voice of God recorded for humanity. Furthermore, Peter confirms the controlled nature of this writing:

“For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” — 2 Peter 1:21 (KJV)

The authors were carried along by the Holy Spirit, ensuring that what they wrote was precisely what God intended to reveal.

Inerrancy and Supreme Authority

Because the Scripture is God-breathed, it follows a necessary and glorious conclusion: the Bible is inerrant. This means it is entirely without error or fault in all its declarations—whether relating to history, science, prophecy, or salvation. If God is perfect, His communication must also be perfect.

This perfect Word is therefore the Supreme Authority in the life of every believer. It acts as a final court of appeal, a light to guide our every step, and a sharp instrument that divides truth from deception.

“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.” — Psalm 19:7 (KJV)

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” — Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

The Foundation of All Truth

The universal acceptance of the Bible’s authority across Christian traditions confirms its essential role. Without the infallible revelation of Scripture, we have no reliable standard by which to know God, understand sin, or comprehend the path to redemption. The Bible is the foundational document of our faith; it is God’s Infallible Revelation to Man—the truth upon which we build the entire Defence of the Truth.
