The Global Religion of Self: Why the Doctrine of Inner Divinity is the Ultimate Antichrist Lie
The Subtle Serpent and the Ancient Deception
The lie at the heart of the “Global Religion of Self” is not new; it is the oldest deception recorded in scripture. When the serpent beguiled Eve in the garden, his promise was the ultimate spiritual upgrade: “For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:5, KJV).
This is the quintessential Antichrist lie: the denial of God’s sovereignty and the declaration of human autonomy and divinity. The Antichrist spirit does not always appear as an overt, evil ruler; more often, it is a spiritual philosophy that subtly diverts worship from the Creator to the creation, culminating in the worship of the self.
The Modern Manifestation of Self-Worship
Today, this ancient lie has permeated modern culture, transforming into a global phenomenon. It is found in:
- New Age Spirituality: Doctrines that proclaim “You are God,” or that Christ Consciousness is an attainable state within every human being, rather than the unique manifestation of the Son of God.
- Secular Humanism: A worldview that elevates humanity to the supreme standard, removing the need for a transcendent God or divine law. Morality becomes subjective, determined by the individual’s “inner truth” or “vibrations.”
- The Prosperity Gospel: While seemingly Christian, its focus often shifts from glorifying God through obedience and suffering to manifesting personal wealth and health through the power of positive self-talk—a technique that subtly grants the individual creative power equal to God’s word.
The core belief uniting these movements is the rejection of the God of the Bible as the sole authority and source of truth, replacing Him with the supposed “divinity within.”
The Scriptural Warning: The Seat of God
Scripture is explicit about the nature of this ultimate deception. The Antichrist, the man of sin, will rise to claim the highest honor for himself. The Apostle Paul wrote:
“Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” (2 Thessalonians 2:4, KJV)
While this may refer to a physical future event, it also describes the spiritual seat being claimed: the human heart. When an individual rejects God’s law and grace and declares their own will and consciousness to be the highest judge, they are effectively placing the self in the spiritual temple and proclaiming, “I am God.”
This is why the doctrine of Inner Divinity is the Ultimate Antichrist Lie: it prepares the hearts of men to receive a leader who will simply be the culmination and personification of their own deepest, self-worshipful desire. It is the final, total diversion from the blessed hope of the Lord’s Return to the cursed deception of self-exaltation.
