In the closing weeks of 2025, a great shadow has lengthened across the spiritual landscape. Pope Leo XIV, standing amidst the ruins of ancient Nicaea and the mosques of Istanbul, has issued a call for “universal fraternity,” suggesting that our “original vocation” is a unity that transcends doctrinal and religious boundaries. To the world, this sounds like the language of peace; to the faithful, it is the “sleight of men” and “cunning craftiness” warned of by the Apostle Paul (Ephesians 4:14).
We must speak plainly: The “unity” currently being brokered on the world stage is not the unity of the Holy Spirit. It is a political and spiritual counterfeit designed to prepare the way for a global system that rejects the absolute Lordship of Jesus Christ.
The Broad Way of “Omnes Fratres”
The Pope’s invocation of Omnes Fratres—the idea that all are “brothers” regardless of their “doctrinal origins”—is a direct assault on the exclusivity of the Gospel. While we are called to live peaceably with all men, the Bible never recognizes a spiritual brotherhood outside of the New Birth.
True fraternity is found only in the blood of the Lamb. The scriptures do not say that all men are children of God; rather, they tell us that we were by nature “the children of wrath” (Ephesians 2:3) until we were adopted into the family of God through faith in Christ alone.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (John 1:12, KJV)
By suggesting that fraternity is an “essential feature of Christianity” that includes those who deny the deity of Christ or his finished work on the cross, the Vatican is preaching “another gospel” (Galatians 1:8).
The Altar of Compromise
In his recent visit to the Blue Mosque, the Pope stood in “attentive listening,” signaling a “deep respect” for a faith that explicitly denies the crucifixion and resurrection of the Son of God. This is not “dialogue”; it is a betrayal of the commission to “preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).
To seek common ground by silencing the name of Jesus is to fall into the trap of the coming World Religion. The “culture of encounter” promoted by Rome today is the very “unity” that will one day bow to the Antichrist. The Lord did not come to bring a global, interfaith peace based on human relationships; He came to bring a sword of truth that divides the light from the darkness.
“Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:” (Luke 12:51, KJV)
The Watchman’s Rebuke
We must reject the notion that “all religions are paths to God,” as was recently suggested during the interfaith youth summits. This is the doctrine of the “Global Religion of Self,” where man’s desire for peace and his own “inner divinity” replace the holiness of God and the necessity of repentance.
The Pope’s message of a “renewed hope” found in human solidarity is a false comfort. There is no hope for a world in rebellion against its Creator except through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12, KJV)
As the year 2025 draws to a close and the nations gather under the banner of a false unity, let the true Church stand firm. We do not seek a seat at the table of universal fraternity; we seek to be found faithful at the marriage supper of the Lamb.
