The Training Ground

Midnight Watch Lantern

“And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.” (Matthew 25:6, KJV)

The Craft:

  • Step 1: Take a clean glass jar.
  • Step 2: Use a marker or tape to write “WATCH” on the glass.
  • Step 3: Place a small light inside (tea light or battery light).
  • The Lesson: This lantern is a signal. It tells everyone that this house is awake and waiting for the King’s return.

The Evidence Search

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life…” (John 5:39, KJV)

Find these 3 Witnesses:

  • 1. A Smooth Stone: Read 1 Samuel 7:12. God is our “Eben-ezer” (Stone of Help).
  • 2. A Measuring Line: Find a ruler or string. Read Job 38:5. God measured the foundations of the earth.
  • 3. Salt: Find a salt shaker. Read Matthew 5:13. We must preserve the Truth.

The Workman’s Oath

“Rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15, KJV)

Sabbath Challenge:

Memorize the full verse of 2 Timothy 2:15 today. A “Workman” in the Lord’s kingdom is someone who knows how to use their Bible like a tool for the Truth.

Verdict: Once memorized, you are officially a “Junior Watchman” for the week!

LIVE EXERCISE
The Sword Room

The Sword Drill

Speed and accuracy with the Word of Truth.

How to Play:
  1. Every player holds their KJV Bible by the spine (closed).
  2. The “Watchman” (Parent) calls out a reference, for example: “Hebrews 4:12!”
  3. Players must find the verse. The first to place their finger on it and read the first three words aloud wins the round.
  4. The Goal: To handle the “Sword of the Spirit” with no hesitation.

The Lineage Link

Connect the generations of the faithful.

The Objective: Put these 5 names in the correct order of when they lived (KJV Chronology).

The Names: Noah, King David, Adam, Moses, Abraham.

The Solution: 1. Adam, 2. Noah, 3. Abraham, 4. Moses, 5. King David.

“So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations…” (Matthew 1:17)
WATCHMAN TEST
The Watchtower

Signal vs. Noise

Discern the Voice of the Shepherd.

How to Play:
  1. The “Watchman” reads 3 statements. Two are true KJV verses, and one is “Noise” (a false statement or a common worldly saying).
  2. Example:
    1. Jesus wept.
    2. God helps those who help themselves.
    3. In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.
  3. Children must identify the “Noise” (Number 2).
  4. The Lesson: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me (John 10:27).

Part scavenger hunt, part puzzle, part Bible study. These are a few examples and once you see the pattern you can make countless others yourself.

Serving Like Jesus Chore Chart

The “Serving Like Jesus” Chart

“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.” (John 13:14)

Concept of Service Kid-Friendly Idea Bible Verse
Serving with a Grateful Heart Being grateful for our home and food and serving with a happy attitude. “And whatever you do…do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God…” (Colossians 3:17)
Serving with Humility Serving others by doing a task, even if it feels small or you don’t feel like it. “Do nothing out of selfish ambition…in humility value others above yourselves.” (Philippians 2:3)
Serving with Love Doing something to help a family member out of love for them. “You…were called to be free…rather, serve one another humbly in love.” (Galatians 5:13)
Serving with Diligence Working hard and finishing a task completely, just as Jesus was diligent in His ministry. “Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor…is not in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)
