The Sovereign Shout

From the “Fiat” of Genesis to the “Twinkling of an Eye”

The modern mind is conditioned to believe in the “slow work of time,” a philosophy that permeates both the secular laboratory and the compromised pulpit. Yet, the Bible presents a Creator who does not require the crutch of eons to accomplish His will. In the beginning, there was no process; there was only the Word. “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light” (Genesis 1:3). This is the doctrine of Immediate Creation—the “Fiat” of the Almighty that brought substance out of nothingness by the sheer authority of His command.

This suddenness is not merely a historical fact to be defended; it is a prophetic pattern to be expected. The same skepticism that mocks a six-day creation is the same spirit that scoffs at a sudden Return. They argue that the Lord delays His coming because they cannot conceive of a God who breaks through the “natural order” with a single, world-altering shout.

The correlation is forensic in its precision:

  • The Command of Life: Just as the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters to bring order to chaos, the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout to bring life to the dead in Christ.
  • The Element of Time: Creation did not “evolve” into being; it was spoke into being. Likewise, the translation of the saints will not be a gradual transition of the soul, but a physical metamorphosis occurring “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump” (1 Corinthians 15:52).
  • The Absolute Authority: When God said, “It was so,” the physical laws of the universe obeyed. When He says, “Come up hither,” the laws of gravity and death will be equally powerless to resist.

To believe in a “slow creation” is to inadvertently prepare oneself for a “slow return”—or no return at all. If we allow the “noise” of the world to convince us that God is bound by the slow processes of nature, we lose the “Blessed Hope” of His imminency. We must stand fast on the truth that the God of Genesis is the God of Revelation. He who created all things in a week can, and will, reclaim all things in a heartbeat. The suddenness of the Beginning is the guarantee of the suddenness of the End. The King is not just coming; He is at the door.
