The heavens and the earth were not established by the hands of diplomats, nor are they sustained by the treaties of men. As the world watches the waters of the Strait of Hormuz being choked by a naval blockade this week, we must look past the “rumors of war” to the decree of the Almighty. The Prophet Zechariah, moved by the Spirit of the Living God, spoke of this very hour when the nations would find themselves in a state of spiritual and physical intoxication.
“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.” (Zechariah 12:2)
The Intoxication of the Nations
As of April 14, 2026, the global economy “staggers” as 20% of the world’s oil supply is held in the balance. The nations are drawn to the Middle East as if by a magnetic force they cannot resist. They are “drunk” on their own pride, believing that a blockade or a missile can settle a dispute over the land that God has called His own. This “cup of trembling” is not merely a metaphor; it is the physical manifestation of the nations losing their footing as they attempt to divide the “Holy Land.”
The Heavy Stone of Jerusalem
While the headlines focus on the CENTCOM blockade of Iranian ports, the true focal point remains the “Heavy Stone” of Jerusalem. The more the world tries to move it, the more they are “cut in pieces.” We see the major powers—the U.S., Israel, and the surrounding neighbors—straining under the weight of a conflict that has no secular solution.
“And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.” (Zechariah 12:3)
The Verdict for the Remnant
For the believer, this is not a time for fear, but for focused “Search Listening” of the Spirit. The “reeling” we see in the energy markets and the naval standoffs is the herald of the King’s approach. The nations are gathered, the cup is full, and the “staggering” has begun. We do not look to the Islamabad peace talks for hope; we look to the eastern sky.
