We are living in the hour of the Mute Pulpit. The “Institution” has plenty to say about your “anxiety,” your “finances,” and your “purpose,” but it is stone-cold silent on the most pressing reality in the universe: The King is at the door.
The Forensic Analysis: The Conspiracy of Silence Why is the “Lord’s Return” the most hated topic in the modern church? Because you cannot build an earthly empire if people are looking for a Heavenly one.
- The Economic Motive: You can’t raise a 30-year building fund if the congregation believes the world is “reserved unto fire.”
- The Psychological Motive: People want to be “comfortable” in their sins. Preaching the Return requires preaching Judgment, Accountability, and Purity. That doesn’t sell tickets.
- The Theological Motive: By removing the “Blessed Hope,” they have replaced the Saviour with a Life Coach. They have turned the Gospel into a “Self-Help” manual for a world they intend to stay in forever.
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” > — 2 Peter 3:3-4
The Scriptural Exhibit: The Blood on the Watchman’s Hands
The Bible is clear: the job of the leader is to blow the trumpet. A silent trumpet is a betrayal of the people.
- The Lie: “We shouldn’t focus on prophecy because it’s ‘divisive’ or ‘confusing’.”
- The Truth: Prophecy is the “light that shineth in a dark place” (2 Peter 1:19). To extinguish that light is to leave the sheep to wander into the Great Falling Away in total darkness.
- The Warning: If the watchman sees the sword come and blows not the trumpet, the blood is on his head (Ezekiel 33:6). Most modern pastors aren’t watchmen; they are Lullaby Singers, soothing the people into a deep, spiritual sleep.
The Forensic Verdict: The Architecture of Apathy
The silence of the pulpit is the loudest sound in the world today. It is the sound of an institution that has made its peace with the world and its prince. If your “church” treats the Return of the Lord as a footnote or a “fringe theory,” they aren’t just “missing a point”—they are actively participating in the Great Deception.
Everything you’ve been told about “living for today” is wrong. We are commanded to be “Looking for blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13).
The Midnight Audit
On TheLordsReturn.com, we will publish the “Pulpit Silence Tracker.” We challenge readers to look back at the sermons in their “institution.”
- How many times was the Imminent Return the central theme?
- How many times was Hell, Judgment, or Repentance mentioned?
- How many times was the “Bible” used as the final, unmoving authority?
The Verdict is clear: If the trumpet is silent, it’s time to find a new camp.
