Jahzeel was the firstborn son of Naphtali and the progenitor of the Jahzeelites (recorded in some places as Jahziel). His lineage was vital to the northern strength of Israel. Like the other patriarchs of the tribes, Jahzeel’s life was one of pioneering and preservation. He took the “Ancient Paths” established by his father and passed them to a multitude, ensuring that the northern borders of the inheritance were occupied by those who knew the God of Jacob.
“The sons of Naphtali; Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem.” (1 Chronicles 7:13)
