In the court of public opinion, the secular academic’s greatest weapon is not the “proof” he holds in his hand, but the “consensus” he hides behind. We are told that because a vast majority of men in lab coats agree on a timeline of billions of years, the matter is settled. “The science is in,” they proclaim, as if Truth were a democratic process determined by a show of hands. But a “consensus” is not a forensic fact; it is a defensive wall built to protect a fragile narrative from the intrusion of the supernatural. History is a graveyard of “scientific consensuses” that were eventually buried by the very reality they tried to ignore.
The “True Arrogance,” as some might call it, is not found in the man who believes his Bible, but in the academic who believes that his collective agreement can override the Testimony of the One who was there. These “independent witnesses” of radiometric dating—Potassium-Argon, Rubidium-Strontium, Uranium-Lead—are only independent until you realize they are all breathing the same philosophical air. They are a circle of men standing in a dark room, each checking the other’s watch to see what time it is, while the sun is rising outside the window they’ve boarded up. They “calibrate” their clocks to match one another’s assumptions, and then call the resulting agreement “proof.”
This is the “vain jangling” of those who have “turned aside unto vain questions” (1 Timothy 1:6). They claim that Uniformitarianism is merely the observation that gravity works, but in reality, it is a desperate prayer that the “Reset Button” of the Flood never happened. If the laws of physics were interrupted by the majesty of the Creator during a year of global judgment, then every “million-year” calculation in their textbooks is a work of fiction. They ignore the “catastrophic” because they cannot control it. They cling to the “slow and gradual” because it gives them the illusion of a world without a Master.
We must understand that these scientists are not fighting against “ignorance”; they are fighting against Revelation. They are “ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Timothy 3:7) because they have excluded the Truth before the first beaker was even washed. They call our foundations “missing,” yet they are the ones building a skyscraper on the clouds of “nothingness.” The King is at the door, and He is coming to judge the “wisdom of this world” which is “foolishness with God” (1 Corinthians 3:19). The consensus of men will evaporate like mist when the Alpha and the Omega stands once again upon the earth He spoke into existence.
