The Days Of Creation

The Days Of Creation

A Day-by-Day Breakdown from Genesis 1

Day 1: Light and Darkness

Genesis 1:3-5

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep. God spoke and said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. He separated the light from the darkness, calling the light “day” and the darkness “night.”

Day 2: The Sky and the Waters ☁️🌊

Genesis 1:6-8

God created a vault, or an expanse, to separate the waters. He separated the water under the vault from the water above it. God called the vault “sky.” This created the firmament that we see, dividing the atmosphere from the clouds.

Day 3: Land, Seas, and Vegetation 🏞️🌳

Genesis 1:9-13

God commanded the waters under the sky to gather in one place, so that dry ground would appear. He called the dry ground “land” and the gathered waters “seas.” Then, God commanded the land to produce vegetation of all kinds—plants, trees, and seeds—each according to its own kind.

Day 4: Sun, Moon, and Stars ☀️🌙✨

Genesis 1:14-19

God created lights in the sky to separate the day from the night. He made the sun to govern the day and the moon to govern the night, and He also created the stars. These were set in place to serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years.

Day 5: Sea and Sky Creatures 🐠🐦

Genesis 1:20-23

God commanded the waters to teem with living creatures and the sky to be filled with birds. He created the great sea monsters and every living thing that moves in the water, as well as every winged bird, each according to its kind. God saw that it was good and blessed them.

Day 6: Land Animals and Humans 🦁👫

Genesis 1:24-31

God commanded the land to produce living creatures—livestock, wild animals, and creatures that crawl on the ground—each according to its kind. Then, God created humanity in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them. He blessed them and gave them dominion over all creation.

Day 7: Rest 🕊️

Genesis 2:1-3

By the seventh day, God had finished all of His work. He rested from all His work, and He blessed and sanctified the seventh day, making it holy. This day of rest serves as the conclusion to the creative week and sets a pattern for a Sabbath rest.
