The Bible is full of images of planting, growing, and harvesting. Your new spiritual life is like a seed 🌱. Now, we’ll learn to water it, tend to it, and watch it grow into something beautiful.
Planting the Seed: Your Decision 🤲
The first step is simply making the decision to follow Christ. It’s an act of planting a seed of faith in the soil of your heart. That’s the most important step you could ever take.
- Your Action: Just as a farmer keeps track of the planting date, you can record this special day. Remember this moment as the start of your spiritual year.
The Living Water: A Daily Rhythm 💧
Just as a plant needs water, your faith needs daily nourishment through conversation with God. This is not a chore but a way to strengthen your roots.
- Your Action: Start with a simple rhythm. Find one moment in your day to thank God for something 🙏, confess something you need to, and ask Him for help with something in your life.
Tending the Soil: The Story 📖
To help your faith grow, you need to understand the rich, life-giving story of the Bible. It’s the soil that your seed of faith will grow in.
- Your Action: Don’t get overwhelmed! Reading your Bible is one of the most important parts in your next steps. Start slow and give yourself time to reflect on your readings and do not be afraid to ask for help from trusted sources in understanding the Bible. Most importantly mention these to God in your prayers and ask for his help in understanding the scriptures.
Finding Your Field: The Community 🤝
A single plant can grow, but a whole field of plants grows better together. They share sunlight, water, and support one another. The same is true for your faith.
- Your Action: Find a community of other believers. This could be a local church or a trusted online community. The goal is simply to find someone that shares the love of Christ that you can lean on. This is where your Bible readings come into play. You are to test your sources with the scriptures. If they are not scriptural, find other sources. Be careful as many people will try to lead you astray and if you do not know the Word of God, this can become difficult. Read your Bible!
