Defense of the Truth

In an age where the foundations of certainty are being systematically dismantled by the spirit of compromise, the call to stand as a watchman has never been more urgent. To offer a Defense of the Truth is not merely to engage in an academic exercise or a polite debate; it is to engage in a spiritual militancy for the preservation of the faith once delivered unto the saints. We live in a generation that asks, with the same cynical sneer as Pilate, “What is truth?” while ignoring the very Word that stands as an eternal rock against the shifting sands of modernism. As it is written, “For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth” (2 Corinthians 13:8,). Our mandate is clear: we are not called to evolve with the times, but to endure them, holding fast to the ancient landmarks that our fathers have set.

The essence of this defense lies in the recognition that truth is exclusive, absolute, and inherently divisive. It separates the wheat from the chaff and the light from the darkness. To defend the truth is to protect the purity of the Gospel from the leaven of the Pharisees and the worldly philosophies that seek to “deconstruct” the divine. We see the world reeling to and fro, intoxicated by the wine of apostasy, yet the Remnant must remain sober. We are instructed to “Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding” (Proverbs 23:23). This “buying” suggests a costโ€”a willingness to sacrifice reputation, comfort, and cultural acceptance for the sake of that which is eternal.

Our defense is built upon the infallible testimony of the Holy Scriptures. We do not look to the latest “revelations” of men or the consensus of the masses, but to the “more sure word of prophecy” that shines as a light in a dark place. This is a forensic standโ€”a systematic examination of the evidence provided by the Almighty against the counterfeit claims of the adversary. When the world cries “peace and safety” while drifting into the Great Falling Away, the defender of truth sounds the trumpet of warning. We must be as the men of Issachar, who had understanding of the times, knowing that the King is at the door.

To stand for the truth is to stand with the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Any defense that does not center on His literal Return and His absolute Authority is no defense at all. It is a high calling to be a steward of these mysteries, and it requires a heart that is unashamed and a forehead set like flint against the errors of the day. “Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day” (Psalm 25:5). Let us, therefore, put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

The Truth is not a matter of private interpretation or subjective feeling; it is the objective reality of Godโ€™s Word. In these final hours, neutrality is a luxury we cannot afford. We must decide if we will be swept away by the current of the age or if we will be anchored to the Rock of Ages.
