End Times: A Scriptural Defense of the Last Days

( Also see The Great Falling Away)

The world looks upon the horizon with a trembling heart, confused by the “noise” of geopolitical upheaval and the “distress of nations, with perplexity” (Luke 21:25). Yet, for the remnant of the faith, the biblical end times are not a source of blind terror, but the fulfillment of a divine promise. We do not look for a catastrophe; we look for a King. The scriptures are not silent regarding the hour in which we live, and they command a sobriety that the modern world has long since traded for the pottage of temporal security.

To understand the end times is to understand the character of God—His justice, His patience, and His ultimate sovereignty over the rebellious kings of the earth. We are told that “in the last days perilous times shall come” (2 Timothy 3:1), characterized by a profound falling away from the truth. This “Great Apostasy” is the primary spiritual marker of our age. When men become “lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud” (2 Timothy 3:2), they set the stage for the final act of human history. The noise of the world seeks to drown out the ticking clock of eternity, yet the word of God stands as a firm anchor, reminding us that “the coming of the Lord draweth nigh” (James 5:8).

The scriptural blueprint for the end times is centered squarely upon the person of Jesus Christ. It is not merely a sequence of plagues and seals, but the “Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass” (Revelation 1:1). We are called to be watchmen on the wall, discerning the signs of the times not through the lens of secular media, but through the infallible prism of the Bible. We see the budding of the fig tree and we know that summer is nigh. We hear the “rumours of wars” and we are “not troubled,” for we know that “all these things must come to pass” (Matthew 24:6).

Our duty in these closing moments is one of uncompromising defense of the truth. While the world sleeps and the lukewarm church compromises, the faithful must “stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught” (2 Thessalonians 2:15). Physical obedience to the Word and a costly grace that refuses to bow to modern idolatry are the marks of the true witness. The Lord’s return is the “blessed hope” (Titus 2:13) that purifies the believer and steels the soul against the coming storm. We wait with expectation, for “unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation” (Hebrews 9:28).

The end times are the definitive demonstration of God’s authority over time and rebellion. The believer’s posture must be one of vigilant readiness and unyielding scriptural fidelity. Stand fast, for the King is at the door.
