Jerusalem: The Burden of All Nations

If you want to know how close we are to the Lord’s Return, stop looking at the news through the eyes of politicians and start looking through the lens of Zechariah.

In recent weeks, we have seen the world’s attention once again lock onto a single, ancient city: Jerusalem. Whether it is the ongoing discussions about the Temple Mount, the shifting alliances in the Middle East, or the global demand for a “two-state” peace, the world is obsessed with a piece of land no bigger than a small county.

The Heavy Stone

Over 2,500 years ago, the prophet Zechariah described exactly what we are seeing in 2025:

“And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.” (Zechariah 12:3, KJV)

The world treats Jerusalem like a political problem to be solved. They try to “lift” it, to move it, to divide it, and to control it. But God says it is a heavy stone. Every nation that has tried to “fix” Jerusalem by going against God’s Word has ended up “cut in pieces”—economically, politically, and spiritually.

The Gathering Storm

We see the nations “gathering” today, not just with tanks and missiles, but with resolutions and digital pressure. The Middle East is currently a powderkeg of “Peace and Safety” rhetoric on one side and threats of total destruction on the other.

But notice what the Bible says: even if all the people of the earth gather against it, the stone will not move. Why? Because the King of Kings has already staked His claim.

Why This Matters Today

The “burden” of Jerusalem is the ultimate sign that man’s efforts to create world peace without the Prince of Peace are failing. The more the UN, the EU, and the global powers try to settle the “Jerusalem question,” the more they prove that the Bible is the only source of truth.

We are not watching a “regional conflict.” We are watching the stage being set for the return of the One who will rule from that very city.
