The world is currently swept up in a fever of pixels and galactic grandeur, a digital siren song that has captivated the hearts of old and young alike. With the arrival of this latest cinematic offering, millions have flocked to darkened theaters to behold a counterfeit cosmos, a realm where a “Star Child” presides over a comet observatory and a plumbing hero ascends to a celestial throne. It is a spectacle of unparalleled noise, a sugar-coated distraction designed to keep the eyes of the masses fixed upon the flickering screen rather than the firmament which declareth the glory of God. We see in this “Galaxy” a reflection of the age—a generation so desperate for escapism that they find more comfort in a fictional universe than in the “Blessed Hope” of the one true King. While the critics praise the “Universal” appeal of these modern icons, the believer must ask what spirit is being invited into the home under the guise of family entertainment. Even as the “Lord of Bones” makes his grim appearance, the world laughs and cheers, seemingly blind to the irony of celebrating death while ignoring the Author of Life. We are reminded of the sobering reality that “the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever” (1 John 2:17). As the theaters overflow and the merchandise flies from the shelves, we must discern the times; for while the world waits with bated breath for the next phase of a cinematic universe, the Remnant knows that “our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 3:20). Let us not be deceived by the bright lights and the catchy melodies of a fleeting empire, for the “fashion of this world passeth away” (1 Corinthians 7:31), and the true Kingdom is not built of pixels, but of the unshakeable Truth that shall stand when every screen goes dark and every idol is cast down.
