“And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring.” (Leviticus 17:7)
To have idols or false gods is whoring. To seek knowledge or favor from these false gods is whoring. To try to understand what these false gods have to show or tell us by using the True God’s creation is whoring. So a horoscope is almost a fitting description of what you are doing when you follow them.
Throughout the corridors of time, the temptation has remained identical: exchange the unsearchable riches of the Creator for the cheap, recycled currency of the creature. When men and women look to the host of heaven, cast lots, or scan the daily horoscopes for a glimpse of tomorrow, they are not engaging in harmless amusement. They are bowing at an ancient altar, prostituting their trust away from the living God who holds the breath of all mankind in His hand.
The modern mind fancies itself too sophisticated for carved stone and wooden poles, yet it readily trades the Almighty for digital horoscopes, astrological charts, and psychological archetypes. By taking the celestial bodies—magnificent testaments ordained by the Creator—and bending them into instruments of divination, man commits the very transgression that provoked the wrath of the prophets of old. It is an act of spiritual adultery, a desperate reaching out to false deities to find a map for a life that only the Savior has the authority to guide.
The Word of God stands as an unyielding wall against this deception, warning that the astrologers, the stargazers, and the monthly prognosticators shall be as stubble, unable to deliver their own souls from the fire. There is no middle ground between light and darkness, between the counsel of the Eternal and the whispers of the false gods.
