The digital echo of our last witness had scarcely faded when the “rumours of wars” transitioned into the deafening roar of active judgment. As the sun set yesterday, we observed the gathering of the “ships of Chittim” and the positioning of naval might; by the early hours of this morning, the world awoke to the reality of a direct kinetic engagement. This is the nature of the end-of-the-age: a suddenness that the world cannot comprehend, for the Word tells us that “as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth” (Luke 21:35). We do not look to Ezekiel’s future invasion for today’s answer, but rather to the immediate “distress of nations, with perplexity” (Luke 21:25) that our Lord warned would precede His appearing.
The strikes delivered by the United States and Israel against Iranian interests are not merely tactical shifts in a long-standing shadow war; they are the physical manifestation of a spiritual fever pitch. While the diplomats and the “kings of the earth” (Psalm 2:2) scramble to contain the fallout, the student of the Word recognizes the pattern of “travail” or birth pains. Just as travail comes upon a woman with child, so too has this conflict reached a point where there is no turning back to the previous status quo. The “peace and safety” that the globalists have long promised is being stripped away, revealing the fragile foundation upon which the modern world is built.
We must remain sober and vigilant, not being moved by every wind of geopolitical speculation, but anchored in the truth that our God is not the author of confusion. The convergence we noted last night—the falling away within the professing church and the literal falling of missiles in the East—is the dual witness of our day. As the smoke rises over the region, the Remnant must not tremble as those who have no hope. Rather, we stand fast, knowing that the “shaking of these things” is the precursor to the arrival of the Kingdom which cannot be moved. The King is indeed at the door, and the suddenness of today’s events serves as a final, merciful warning to all who will hear: “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass” (Luke 21:36).
