The Colors of the Curse: Revelation and the Middle East

In the book of Revelation, the opening of the first four seals unleashes four horsemen who bring judgment to the earth. Today, as the world’s attention is fixed on the conflict in the Holy Land, a chilling “coincidence” has emerged: the four colors of the Palestinian flag—and nearly every major Islamic power surrounding Israel—are the exact four colors of the horses of the Apocalypse.

1. The White Horse: Deception

“And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.” (Revelation 6:2, KJV)

The White on the flag is traditionally said to represent the Umayyad dynasty. In prophecy, the first horseman wears white to mimic righteousness (deception) and carries a bow without arrows. He represents a “peace” that is actually a conquest. We see this today in the constant push for “peace treaties” that only serve to further the goal of those who wish to conquer the land.

2. The Red Horse: War

“And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another…” (Revelation 6:4, KJV)

The Red on the flag represents the Hashemite dynasty and the blood of the “martyrs.” Scripture tells us the Red Horse is released to take peace from the earth. In the current conflict, the red banner signifies the spirit of jihad and revolution that refuses to allow peace to dwell in the region.

3. The Black Horse: Famine

“And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.” (Revelation 6:5, KJV)

The Black on the flag represents the Abbasid Caliphate. The Black Horse brings economic collapse and famine. As the turmoil in the Middle East threatens global oil supplies and shipping lanes, we see the “balances” of the Black Horse beginning to weigh down the economies of the world.

4. The Pale Horse: Death

“And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.” (Revelation 6:8, KJV)

This is the most striking link. The Greek word for “pale” is chloros, which means a sickly green—the color of a corpse or a stagnant swamp. Green is the primary color of Islam and the final stripe on the flag (representing the Fatimid dynasty). It is the only horseman specifically named: Death.

The Final Verdict

The flags of men are temporary, but the Word of God is eternal. While the world rallies behind colors and banners, the believer must remember that our King does not come under a flag of four colors. He comes on a White Horse—not the one of deception, but the one of Truth—clothed in a vesture dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God (Revelation 19:13).
