The Celestial Roots of the Great Falling Away
The mystery of iniquity doth already work, but its origin is not found in the modern philosophies of men; it is an ancient contagion birthed in the very courts of heaven. When we look upon the current landscape of the professing church and witness the “falling away” prophesied by the Apostle Paul, we are not seeing a new phenomenon, but the earthly manifestation of the “Fallen Host.” Just as the “son of the morning” looked upon his own brightness and sought to exalt his throne above the stars of God, the modern world—and much of the visible church—has succumbed to that same intoxicating pride. The Great Falling Away is the final, earthly echo of the first celestial treason.
In the record of “The Fallen Host,” we see that those who were once “ministering spirits” became “unclean spirits” through a deliberate act of the will. They “kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation” (Jude 1:6). This is the exact pattern of the current apostasy. Men who once held to the “form of sound words” are now abandoning their “first estate” in Christ to follow “seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils” (1 Timothy 4:1). The rebellion of the rebels of the celestial court was characterized by a rejection of the Sovereign’s authority in favor of self-deification. Today, the “Apostasy Audit” reveals a church that has replaced the “Thus saith the Lord” with the “I feel” of the creature, fulfilling the ancient desire: “I will be like the most High” (Isaiah 14:14).
We must understand that the “principalities and powers” we wrestle against are not merely distant entities; they are the architects of the current “Great Falling Away.” These “rulers of the darkness of this world” (Ephesians 6:12) are working to replicate their own fall within the ranks of humanity. By undermining the authority of the King James Bible and mocking the “Blessed Hope” of the Lord’s Return, they seek to draw a “third part of the stars” of the earthly professing church into their own condemnation. The “costly grace” they rejected is now being presented as a “cheap grace” by modern hirelings, leading many to believe they can remain in the King’s favor while joined to the Rebels’ cause.
The correlation is undeniable: the first falling away happened in the light of the Throne, and the final falling away is happening in the light of the Gospel. As the “Fallen Host” was “cast out into the earth” (Revelation 12:9), they brought with them the methodology of the lie. They do not come with horns and hooves, but as “ministers of righteousness” (2 Corinthians 11:15) who subtly shift the focus from the Creator to the self. The “Great Falling Away” is the culmination of this spiritual warfare—a strategic vacuuming of faith from the hearts of men to prepare the way for the “man of sin.”
We who remain on the “Midnight Watch” must recognize that the spirit of the celestial rebels is the same spirit driving the modern departure from the faith. The “Verdict” is clear: just as the “everlasting fire” was prepared for the devil and his angels, so too is judgment certain for those who follow in the footsteps of their rebellion. The only defense is to “stand fast” and “hold the traditions which ye have been taught” (2 Thessalonians 2:15). We do not look to the signs of the times with fear, but with the forensic certainty that the King is at the door, ready to execute judgment upon all rebels, whether they be of the celestial host or the earthly congregation.
