The lineage of the serpent

The tapestry of the lodge is woven with the frayed threads of every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God. This is the “Mystery of Iniquity” that doth already work, a spiritual transmission of the ancient schools that has merely changed its clothing to suit the age. From the sun-baked stones of Egypt to the marble porticos of Rome, the same spirit has whispered the promise of hidden illumination to those willing to bypass the narrow gate. We are warned in Ephesians 5:11, “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” To reprove the lodge is to pull back the veil on the very Mystery Babylon that has intoxicated the nations since the beginning.

In the shadows of the Great Pyramid, the Egyptian priests guarded the “Hermetic” secrets, claiming a monopoly on the divine. They taught that man could ascend the celestial ladder through the manipulation of symbols and the mastery of nature. This same arrogance fueled the Greek Mysteries at Eleusis and the Dionysian rites, where the initiate was led through a simulated death and “rebirth” into the secret society. It is the ritualized lie of the garden, persistent and pervasive. The Roman Empire later codified these mysteries into their collegia, creating guilds that protected their craft with blood-oaths and secret signs. As the Word declares in Jeremiah 10:2, “Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven.”

These schools did not perish; they merely submerged, re-emerging as the “speculative” philosophy of the modern era. The “square and compass” are but the modern iterations of the ancient tools used to build temples to the sun, the moon, and the stars. While the world admires the “architectural beauty” of these traditions, the believer sees the scaffolding of a global deception. They seek to rebuild the temple of man, but we wait for the City whose builder and maker is God. We must remember the sobering truth of Matthew 6:23, “If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!”

The light offered in the darkened rooms of the lodge is a cold, flickering imitation of the True Light. It is a synthesis of every pagan school that ever rejected the Sovereignty of the Almighty. As we witness the integration of these ancient arts into the modern world, we remain unshakeable. The King is at the door, and He shall consume the “mystery of iniquity” with the spirit of His mouth. We stand not in the secret knowledge of the ancients, but in the revealed glory of the Risen Christ.
