The Red Heifer, A Shadow in the Sun

The air in Jerusalem is thick with the scent of expectation, yet for the student of the Word, it carries the heavy fragrance of a coming sorrow. We are told to look for the “blessed hope,” yet much of the modern world is looking for a red heifer. They search the hide of a beast for a sign of redemption, forgetting that “it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins” (Hebrews 10:4). As these animals are prepared for a ritual long since rendered obsolete by the blood of the Covenant, we must stand as a witness to the truth: tears for the temple should not be shed in longing, but in profound sadness for those who seek the shadow while rejecting the Substance.

The stagecraft of the end times is reaching its final act. The arrival of these red heifers is not a herald of a holy restoration, but a mechanical necessity for the “man of sin” to take his seat. We see the final pieces of the stage coming together, a physical structure built on the rejection of the one true Sacrifice. To celebrate the return of animal blood is to participate in the “Great Falling Away,” for “if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain” (Galatians 2:21). A cow did not come to die for our sins; a Savior did.

We must understand that this “purification” by the ashes of a heifer is a forensic marker of the world’s spiritual blindness. While the religious elite prepare the “water of separation,” the true Remnant is already “washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:11). To return to the ash is to return to the dust of the earth, ignoring the Spirit that giveth life. We stand fast in the defense of the truth, recognizing that these preparations are but the “Midnight Cry” of a world speeding toward its appointment with the King.
