The concept of a prophetic sign is often focused on grand visions or celestial events, but sometimes the most powerful signs are found in the subtle details of personal history and geography. One such story involves Jonathan, David, and a seemingly ordinary boundary marker known as the stone Ezel.

The setting is the moment when David, having been faithfully loyal to King Saul, realizes that Saul’s jealousy has crossed the point of no return. David and Jonathan, bound by an unbreakable covenant, devise a secret sign to determine David’s final fate.

Jonathan instructs David to hide by a specific geographical feature:
