Who Was Albert Pike: The High Priest of the Lodge

In the study of the coming “Global Religion of Self” and the erosion of biblical truth, the name Albert Pike (1809–1891) stands as a monument to deception. A Confederate General, lawyer, and prolific author, Pike became the most influential figure in the history of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. While the average lodge member may see him as a scholarly architect of fraternal morality, the discerning student of the Word sees a man who sought to replace the Light of the World with the “light” of the morning star.

The Architect of Deception

Pike’s magnum opus, Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, is a dense compendium of occult philosophy, Kabbalah, and pagan mythology. In its pages, Pike makes it clear that the “Blue Degrees” (the first three levels of Masonry) are merely an “outer court” designed to keep the average man in the dark.

“The Blue Degrees are but the outer court or portico of the Temple. Part of the symbols are displayed there to the Initiate, but he is intentionally misled by false interpretations. It is not intended that he shall understand them; but it is intended that he shall imagine he understands them.” (Morals and Dogma, p. 819)

This is a direct violation of the Lord’s command to let our communication be “Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil” (Matthew 5:37, KJV). Pike built a system based on the “lie,” mirroring the character of the one who is the “father of it” (John 8:44, KJV).

The Luciferian Light

Perhaps the most controversial and revealing aspect of Pike’s writing is his discussion of Lucifer. In his effort to synthesize all religions into one, Pike claimed that the true Masonic “Light” comes from a source that the Bible labels as the enemy of our souls.

“LUCIFER, the Light-bearer! Strange and mysterious name to give to the Spirit of Darkness! Lucifer, the Son of the Morning! Is it he who bears the Light… Doubt it not!” (Morals and Dogma, p. 321)

While Masons often argue this is merely a reference to the Latin meaning of the name (“light-bringer”), Pike’s context is always the unification of opposites—the “balancing” of good and evil. This is the root of the “Doctrine of Inner Divinity” that we are exposing on TheLordsReturn.com. It suggests that man does not need a Savior to deliver him from sin, but rather an “initiation” to realize the “godhood” within himself.

The Blueprint for Global Chaos

Pike is also famously (and controversially) associated with a letter allegedly written to Italian revolutionary Giuseppe Mazzini, outlining a plan for three world wars. According to the letter, these conflicts would be engineered to move the world toward a final global state:

  • The first two would weaken the power of monarchs and the influence of the Church.
  • The third would pit the “political Zionists” against the “leaders of the Moslem world,” leading to a social cataclysm that would leave the world so exhausted that people would beg for the “pure doctrine of Lucifer” to be brought into open view.

Whether this letter is a historical artifact or a prophetic warning from a later observer, the current alignment of global events mirrors this “order out of chaos” strategy perfectly.

The Theological Verdict

Albert Pike represents the intellectual peak of the spirit of Antichrist. He took the paganism of Baal, the rebellion of Nimrod, and the sorcery of the occult, and dressed them in the respectable suit of a Southern gentleman.

The Bible warns us: “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14, KJV). Pike’s “Light” is a counterfeit meant to lead men away from the narrow gate and onto the broad path of universalism. For those of us looking for the Lord’s Return, Pike serves as a stark reminder that the “mystery of iniquity” is already at work, hiding in plain sight behind the pillars of the Lodge.
