Who Was Jahziel?

The name Jahziel is found in the following scripture:

  • 1 Chronicles 7:13: “The sons of Naphtali; Jahziel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shallum, the sons of Bilhah.”

Jahziel is recorded as a grandson of Jacob and one of the four sons of Naphtali. As a descendant of the patriarch, Jahziel held a place within the foundational lineage of the tribes of Israel. While the biblical record provides limited biographical detail regarding his individual actions or ministry, his inclusion in the genealogical registers serves as a testament to the preservation of the family line through which the promises of God were carried forward.

His position highlights the importance of heritage and the continuity of the covenantal blessings promised to the fathers. Like many whose names are etched into the sacred history of the tribes, Jahziel represents the expansion of the people of God, illustrating the fulfillment of the divine mandate to be fruitful and multiply. His existence underscores the historical reality of the Israelite community, reminding us that every name included in the record is a vital link in the unfolding narrative of redemption.
