In the final analysis, the conflict between the Record of Genesis and the laboratory of the modern academic is not a battle over “data.” It is a battle over Lordship. The scientist of the secular age has constructed a sprawling, billion-year fortress of “peer-reviewed” history for one specific purpose: to put as much distance as possible between himself and the footsteps of God. He is a man in flight. He looks at a world marked by the scars of a recent, catastrophic Judgment and desperately tries to “calibrate” those scars into a purposeless, ancient decay. He would rather believe he is the accidental descendant of a primate than the rebellious subject of a King.
The “True Ignorance” we see in the halls of the academy is not a lack of information, but a “willing ignorance” of the accountability that comes with a Young Earth. If the world was truly overflowed with water and perished only a few thousand years ago, then the God who judged the world once is still close enough to judge it again. To the carnal mind, “millions of years” is a psychological sedative. It pushes the Creator so far into the “deep time” of the past that He becomes a ghost, an unnecessary variable in an equation of accidents. They “change the truth of God into a lie” (Romans 1:25) because the Truth requires a knee to bow, while the lie allows them to keep their grant money and their pride.
The scientist claims to be “proving all things,” yet he is the one looking for an exit from the reality of his own soul. He speaks of the “Witness of the Stone” while ignoring the Witness of the Spirit. He “professes himself to be wise,” but in his rejection of the Alpha and the Omega, he has become a fool (Romans 1:22). He is like a man trying to study the painting while denying the existence of the Painter, convinced that if he just stares at the brushstrokes long enough, they will explain themselves. But the “Light of the World” cannot be found in a dark room where the windows have been boarded up with secular degrees.
We do not wait for the academy to “approve” the Truth. We know that “the world by wisdom knew not God” (1 Corinthians 1:21). The King is at the door, and the very laboratory equipment they use to “dismiss” the faithful will one day melt with fervent heat (2 Peter 3:10). The “Foundations” they claim are missing are the only things that will remain when the “strong delusion” of the secular age finally shatters. We stand fast on the Rock of Ages, while the “Consensus of the Blind” continues its long walk toward a cliff it refuses to acknowledge.
