The modern skeptic stands upon a foundation he did not build, utilizing instruments he cannot justify, to wage a futile war against the God who sustains his very breath. In our contemporary discourse, the intellectual elites pride themselves on an appeal to the immutable laws of nature and the pristine precision of mathematics, brandishing them as weapons against the Genesis record of creation. Yet, in their pride, they commit a fatal philosophical blunder. They take for granted the absolute consistency, order, and predictability of the universe, utterly blind to the reality that their own godless worldview cannot account for the existence of a single physical law. If the cosmos were truly the byproduct of a cosmic accident—a random explosion of matter out of nothing—chaos would be the supreme ruler of reality. Matter in motion possesses no intellect; atoms cannot pass legislation, and mindless energy cannot enforce order. A universe born of random chance should behave randomly from one microsecond to the next, yet it obeys strict, unyielding, and mathematical rules with absolute fidelity. The secularist steps into his laboratory blindly assuming that the laws of physics will operate tomorrow exactly as they do today, entirely dependent upon a cosmic consistency he has no logical right to expect. He fails to see that what he calls the “laws of nature” are nothing less than the visible manifestation of divine decree, the faithful and unchanging shorthand description of the Creator upholding His handiwork. As the scriptures declare of the Son of God, “He is before all things, and by him all things consist.” The universe does not hold together by its own autonomous power; it consists because the sovereign God of creation actively commands it to do so.
To pierce deeper into the delusion of the secular mind, one must look beyond the physical elements to the transcendent reality of mathematics. Mathematics is the immutable language of creation, an abstract realm of absolute truth that governs the behavior of concrete matter. An equation calculated in the farthest reaches of the cosmos remains as unalterably true as it is on earth, existing independently of human thought or material decay. If the universe were purely material—composed of nothing but shifting atoms and localized energy—then universal, unchanging, non-physical mathematical truths could not logically exist. You cannot dig up the number seven from the earth, nor can you capture a prime number in a net, yet the entire physical creation conforms perfectly to these non-physical, transcendent rules. This reality utterly shatters the foundation of secular materialism, for mathematics is nothing less than an expression of an infinite, orderly, divine intellect. To use the tools of mathematics and the laws of logic to argue against the Creator is the height of intellectual absurdity; it is borrowing the language of the Almighty in an attempt to deny His existence. The skeptic is like a rebellious child who must sit in his father’s lap just to slap him in the face. He relies entirely upon the orderly, rational universe that God created, using God’s logic and God’s laws of nature, to declare that God is not there. The very capacity for human reason and consciousness defies the myth of a godless origin, for dead mud cannot give rise to conscious thought, and a brain produced by accidental chemical reactions cannot formulate objective truth. The scriptures expose this pseudo-intellectual rebellion with uncompromised clarity, stating, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.” The creation does not merely whisper the existence of the Almighty; it shouts it through every mathematical constant and physical law, leaving the denier entirely stripped of his intellectual armor and standing naked before the truth.
