In an age where the “powers and principalities” of this world exert their influence through the shadows of secrecy, the child of God is reminded that “there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad” (Mark 4:22). History has shown that the earthly governments of men, often driven by the pride of life and the lust for power, have sought to conceal truths that would otherwise expose their own fallen nature. Yet, even in the deepest vaults of statecraft, the providence of the Almighty ensures that the truth is eventually brought to light, serving as a testimony against the overreach of the secular arm.
Consider the harrowing accounts of the twentieth century, where programs like Project MKUltra operated in the darkness for two decades. Under the guise of national security, the state engaged in experiments that violated the very sanctity of the human mind—a temple designed by the Creator. For years, these actions were buried beneath layers of classification, a deliberate attempt to hide the mistreatment of the “least of these.” It was not until decades later, through the persistence of those seeking accountability, that the records were unsealed, proving that “the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9).
The concealment of truth is not merely a political maneuver; it is a spiritual battle. When the Gulf of Tonkin incident was presented to the public, it served as the catalyst for a conflict that would claim countless lives. The official narrative, held as gospel by the masses, was later revealed by declassified documents to be a fabrication of the second attack. Here we see the danger of placing absolute faith in the word of man over the unchanging Word of God. The scripture warns us, “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help” (Psalm 146:3).
Even more chilling was the proposed Operation Northwoods, a plan authorized by the highest military leaders to commit acts of terrorism against their own citizens to justify a war. Though never executed, the mere existence of such a document exposes the lengths to which human authority will go when it is not tempered by the fear of the Lord. These declassified truths serve as a “midnight cry” to the faithful, a reminder that our true citizenship is in a Kingdom that cannot be moved, governed by a King who is Himself the Truth.
As we witness the slow unveiling of historical cover-ups, we must not be moved by fear, but rather emboldened in our defense of the truth. These revelations confirm the necessity of a watchful spirit and an unyielding commitment to the scriptures as our only infallible guide. We stand as a remnant that refuses to be lulled into a false sense of security by the narratives of this world. We look past the redacted lines of state documents to the clear, unchanging promises of our Savior. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).
